Cardiovascular disease kills a woman every minute. Mothers. Daughters. Grandmothers. Sisters. Co-workers. Best friends. One in three women suffers from cardiovascular disease, says the American Heart Association. In fact, cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women and No. 1 health threat facing women today. Nearly 14,000 New Jersey women die each year from diseases of the heart and stroke. To focus national attention on heart health and reduce the deadly risks of heart disease, Congress has declared February as National Heart Month.
Employees from Hunterdon Medical Center gathered to support the American Heart Association’s national call for women to take charge of their health and live stronger and healthier lives. On February 5th, employees wore red to celebrate heart health awareness.
